Over 10 million items are sent to landfill every year. A third of these – up to 3 million – could be given a second chance. It’s what members of the Reuse Network do every day.
At Refurnish Devon we are part of the Reuse Network. We’re a group of over 200 charities and social enterprises brought together by a collective belief that giving household items and furniture a second chance is better for our customers, our communities, and our environment.
We’ve helped over 1.5 million people, saving them almost £500m and helping them to live better. We’ve helped to avoid 125,000 tonnes of C02 polluting the planet
We want to celebrate the work that our network of organisations does, and to inspire more people to donate their unwanted items.
It’s why we’re participating in the #Every2ndcounts campaign.
The month-long campaign will help to awareness of the work that organisations like ours do across the UK, and celebrate the incredible contribution that our network– and our donors – make.
We will be using social media to help us share the message. You can get involved in the campaign by promoting it among your networks, encouraging those who can to contribute. Be sure to have a look at our impact calculator you can see the value of donations.
This May we want everyone to give their unwanted goods a second chance, because #Every2ndcounts.

We are pleased to announce that we won the FRN slogan competition!
Please see below the extract from the FRN Newsletter
‘And the winner is…
After much deliberation, we are pleased to announce the winner of our Slogan Competition. The stakes were high as the prize for this competition was a free ticket to next year’s FRN annual conference. We had some truly excellent entries and some that made us laugh out loud, so thank you all for your efforts.
So, without further ado and a big round of applause for: REFURNISH DEVON’
About the slogan entry:
At Refurnish Devon we believe that one man’s rubbish is another man’s treasure. Donating goods, not only encourages people to rethink how they get rid of their unwanted items but it also encourages others to source their furniture and appliances through us rather than buying new off the internet or high street and in turn reducing waste going to landfill. Hopefully our slogan succinctly gets our message across while encouraging people to think about their pre-loved items & where they want to send them when they are finished with them.
Voting is now closed! We want to say a big Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote for us & we will keep you posted with the results.
Refurnish are proud to announce that they have been shortlisted as one of ten charities for the prestigious award of Re-Use Organisation of the year!
This is the first time that the public have been able to vote for this award & this is where you come in!
